Next up was the long awaited return of the band formerly known as Matt's Band, The Alpha and more recently Posture. Now called Airfix and sporting a 'diet' line-up because one of them has a kid and therefore "doesn't get out much after 9 o'clock" they crammed themselves into the corner and proceeded to do what they do best - perform infectious and melodic pop music that immediately etches itself into your conscious. First up was 'Fading' a song regular O.O.T.B.ers will remember as positively bursting with melody and catchy pop sensibilities. Getting its first Waverley airing was the second instalment and new song 'Just for Me'. With sometimes wry lyrics and a nice melody this reminded several of the O.O.T.B flock of Ben Folds' style. Though not something unique to Ben Folds this could have been more because they are fans, anyhow answers on a postcard - Airfix. Last but definitely not least was 'Lovers Fall'. Now I don't like to speculate about the meaning of performers' songs too much (but I'm going to), if this song was intended to document the end of a relationship it does it very well. With great lines like "we're hopeless at lasting, so the last thing to do is go through this again" it hits the spot like alka-seltzer on a Sunday morning (and sometimes Friday if you're one of the O.O.T.B hardcore!). A very enjoyable performance somewhat akin to finding one of your favourite jumpers still fits you after several months of having not been worn.
