Gary Morgan - drummer of ballboy
What's the worst, nails-down-a-blackboard musical experience you've
had?

nose and cheek count? I looked like i was there to mug them.
What's your favourite song of yours?
My favourite song to play is "i lost you, but i found country music" my
favourite song to listen to is "leave the earth behind and take a walk into
the sunshine"
Your favourite song(s) of all time ?
"Snowstorm" by Galaxie 500 (from the album "on fire")
The consumer question: album, book or film you've enjoyed
recently.
"Tietam Brown" written by Mick Foley (an ex wrestler). it made me laugh,
cry and grab my genitals protectively at various points and you can't ask
for more from a book than that.
How would your best review sum you up?
It would say we were barry.
How would your worst critic sum you up?
They'd say we were pish.
Who would be in your fantasy band?
Gary Morgan, Nick Reynolds, Alexa Morrison and Me.

Gordon McIntyre of ballboy fame came next - more sober than last week, which wouldn't be difficult. His "Public Park" has long been a favourite of mine. The line "you are the most beautiful girl in the world/ I'll be Elvis Presley to your Marilyn Monroe" is pure pop romance and very wonderful. "Avante Garde Music", inspired by a girl in a record shop, sounded fabulous on its acoustic debut. "Olympic Cyclist" has been interpreted as a dirty song (something to do with shaving your legs and washing your bike?) but I see it as a song of hope and the power of love shining through. Wonderful stuff.

Gordon Ballboy graced us with his presence at the end. His band, Ballboy, are touring England next week and the USA for four weeks in September. They have a superb CD out called "All The Records On The Radio Are Shite" and their John Peel session is still to be found on the BBC Radio One website. "The Angels, The Whisky and The Hill Of Beans" came first and showed Gordon's country side. Mum's advice to avoid whisky and playing music for a living was, thankfully for us, ignored by Gordon. "They'll Hang Flags From Cranes Upon My Wedding Day" was one of John Peel's top ten tunes of 2001 and who am I to argue? It's very very good.
