(October 2002)
It was safe to say that Ephemera were one of the highlights of the night, and probably the year. Fresh from a Radio Scotland interview that day, this all-girl Norwegian three-piece have been a favourite of mine ever since I downloaded tracks from their website . "Last Thing" featured the first ever glockenspiel at The Waverley and absolutely gorgeous 3-part harmonies you'd skin your granny for. Light in all the best ways ('your eyes still melt me down/like a daffodil trampled on'), this was close to perfect pop as you'll get. "Saddest Day" highlighted some intricate guitar work, Beatles-esque lyrics ('she says she doesn't love anyone but you') and more swooning vocals.
