After that, only Free Loading Frank could take the mic and make the room his own, opening with what is rapidly becoming my favourite song of his, "Sometimes". I think it shows Franks impish sense of humour at it's best, and always makes me laugh, especially when he forgets the words and makes things up on the spot without batting an eye, as he did on Thursday. Franks use of vocal dynamics is always a soundman's nightmare, giving Andy problems when he suddenly bellows "Sometimes I'm Heavy!" and then whispering the next line "Sometimes I'm light". The classic "Bloodshed On The Way" is still as relevant as ever, sadly, as it deals with politicians' use of PR and religion to put a spin on war. How many other songs have a rousing sing-a-long chorus of "Bloodshed On The Way!/Bloodshed On The Way!"?

(Dec 2003)
The inimitable Freeloadin' Frank was up next, beginning with the live premier of a new song, which I would like to think is called "None of the Above, Babe". Frank sets himself a difficult act to follow when his first couplet prompts a laugh from the audience, but he kept them chuckling for the entire song. Following this up with "I'm in Love with a Woman Named Scum" and "Kill Rupert Murdoch", Frank kept us entertained with his classic formula of bawdy comedy with a generous sprinkling of political ire.
