Opening with a delicate piano arpeggio keyboard from the guesting Small Cakes on house keyboard, who was soon joined by the picked strings of Mr Electric White Boy and the gentle strumming of Graham McRobbie, who also handled vocals, "White Ivory" depicted a sense of desolation "a long way from home" and contained some macabre lines describing ivory poaching and crucifixion. Fine guitar solos as always from EWB and Graham's mid-American vocal delivery was also assured on what was probably quite a new song for them. Small Cakes' contribution rounded out matters and he brought the piece to a close to much applause.

Upcoming gigs are pushing the Sawmill Buddhas onwards and upwards with a tight and definitive sound. "Life In A Goldfish Bowl" and "Winding Staircase" both featured Graham on vocals. The former was for anyone who wants to be famous (like the Buddhas and probably every other performer?). The latter was a downbeat and country-tinged focusing on the seedier side of life. Electric Whiteboy's guitar breaks hit the spot tonight. The deep South with nicotine-stained cotton-picking fingers and moonshine whiskey was evoked in the final rockin' dueling guitar epic with EWB's passionate vocal.
